Jeff: Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we take a look at this tailor-made 54 inch long fiberglass standard dock box. A dock box is that big box that you'll see sitting on a Lake dock or Marina walkway, usually right in front of your boat slip and it's used to stow any items that you don't need while you're out on the boat or gone home. You can use it for life jackets, fishing gear, water sports gear, electronics, almost anything else that you can fit in there. Technically you could even use this dock box on your boat if you have room, but it's mainly designed to be used on a dock.It is a nice strong fiberglass construction, it's very durable, has a nice protective gel coat over the whole box which is corrosion UV resistant and the stainless steel latch right up here on the front, it is lockable. Wanted to zoom in just to show you what we're talking about here.

But if you look at that latch, I'll turn it a little bit and the way you open it is you have this lever right here that you just lift up, that'll unlatch it, and then you pull the whole latch up and then to lock it, you just push that back down. And then push that lever down and it'll lock into that hook there, but if you notice right here, there's a hole in that latch. You could actually put a padlock through there and lock it and to keep anybody from getting into it. But again, it's all stainless steel, which is a really nice feature.It does have a nice smooth interior surface. Let me go ahead and open this up.

I'll unlatch it and we'll open the whole lid up. It's a nice, smooth interior surface, makes it very easy to clean, prevents any splinters in your hands when you're reaching in, when you're storing or retrieving any of your stored items. If you notice on that end it has a nice gas strut, helps keep the lid open on any rocking docks or high winds, and allows for nice, slower, more controlled closing. You can see when you go to close this, it won't just slam shut. You can see it'll stay in that position and it just goes slowly.

And then you let you latch your latch to hold it into place.The latch we mentioned is a stainless steel. The other thing I want to mention is right back here, it uses a piano hinge, almost the full length of the lid. And that is also stainless steel, makes it sturdy and corrosion resistant. And again, stainless steel would be your best material to use around water. Few dimensions on this I want to measure for you both outside and inside.

If we close this again. If we measure the length, the longest part is going to be the lid up there. If we put a ruler on the lid, the length of it is going to be right at 54 inches long. The width of it, it's going to be right at 22 inches wide. And the total depth from the bottom of the box to the very top right up here is going to be right at 24 inches deep.Now the inside dimensions. The inside dimensions we're going to measure, and again, it's going to be measured from this end to this end and it's going to measure right at 50 inches, lengthwise. Depth wise, it's going to be right about 18 inches and then height wise will be from the bottom right to about here. That's going to give you right about 20 inches for the inside dimension. And this part is made in the USA. And again, just to show you how this will close, so make sure your latch goes on outside there and then just hook it.
